As an accredited CPD course provider, CLT International can provide guidance in respect of the CPD position of the STEP E&W programme. However, solicitors are reminded that they are ultimately responsible for analysing their personal training and development needs, and ensuring compliance with the requirements of the SRA CPD scheme on an individual basis. For more details on the SRA CPD scheme please visit the SRA website.
For solicitors attending both workshops and the final examination for the STEP Foundation Certificate or any of the Diploma papers of the England & Wales programme, a minimum of 15 CPD hours per course is available. This allocation can be sub-divided as follows:
- 6 hours CPD per workshop attended
- 3 hours CPD for the final examination
6 hours CPD are also available for attendance at any computations day or similar.
It is worth noting that the final examination for a course may take place in a different CPD year to the workshops.
In addition to the above, personal study time undertaken in preparation for the examination may be self-certified and claimed in the same CPD year as the final examination. This is on the basis of the SRA guidelines for “other activities” which state that actual time spent in study and examination (as part of study towards professional qualifications) may be claimed on completion of the examination.
For information on STEP's CPD requirements (applicable only to full STEP members), see the STEP website.
